A Mac cleaner for developers
Xcode, Gradle and npm leave gigabytes behind. CleanLoupe knows the folders your tools rebuild on their own, and the ones you should think twice about. Free, and every item goes to the Trash first.

Example list from one Mac. Your sizes will differ.
Xcode and simulators
Xcode is usually the biggest single source of rebuildable files on an Apple developer's Mac.
DerivedData
SafeBuild products and indexes. Xcode rebuilds them on the next build.
~/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData
Device support files
SafeSymbols copied from every iPhone, iPad, Watch and Vision Pro you connected. Xcode copies them again when needed. The newest folder for each device is offered but never preselected.
~/Library/Developer/Xcode/iOS DeviceSupport~/Library/Developer/Xcode/watchOS DeviceSupport~/Library/Developer/Xcode/tvOS DeviceSupport~/Library/Developer/Xcode/visionOS DeviceSupport
Unavailable simulators
SafeSimulators for runtimes that are no longer installed. Removed with xcrun simctl, the way Xcode does it.
xcrun simctl list (unavailable)
Simulator caches
SafeDyld and runtime caches. Recreated when a simulator boots.
~/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Caches
SwiftUI preview data
SafePreview simulators and builds. Recreated when you open a preview.
~/Library/Developer/Xcode/UserData/Previews
Device logs & documentation cache
SafeCrash logs pulled from devices and the documentation cache.
~/Library/Developer/Xcode/iOS Device Logs~/Library/Developer/Xcode/DocumentationCache
Archives
CarefulArchived builds. They hold the dSYMs you need to read crash reports of shipped versions, so they are never selected for you.
~/Library/Developer/Xcode/Archives
Gradle and Android
Gradle keeps every dependency and wrapper version it has ever downloaded.
Gradle caches
SafeDownloaded dependencies and build caches. Gradle downloads them again.
~/.gradle/caches~/.android/cache
Gradle distributions
ReviewOld Gradle versions downloaded by project wrappers.
~/.gradle/wrapper/dists
npm, pnpm, Yarn and node_modules
Package manager caches and forgotten node_modules folders add up quietly.
npm, pnpm & Yarn caches
SafePackage manager caches. Packages are downloaded again on install.
~/.npm/_cacache~/Library/pnpm/store~/.yarn/berry/cache
Old node_modules
ReviewDependencies of projects you haven't touched for 90 days. Run install to get them back.
<project>/node_modules
Flutter, CocoaPods, Cargo and Go
Shared package stores that every project on your Mac draws from. Worth a look, which is why they are marked Review.
Dart & Flutter pub cache
ReviewPackages for every Flutter project. flutter pub get downloads them again.
~/.pub-cache
CocoaPods specs
ReviewLocal copy of the CocoaPods spec repo.
~/.cocoapods/repos
Cargo & Go module caches
ReviewDownloaded crates and Go modules.
~/.cargo/registry/cache~/go/pkg/mod/cache
Built not to break your next build
- Anything written in the last hour is never preselected, so a build that is running right now is left alone.
- The newest device support folder for each device is offered but never preselected: it is the one Xcode uses for the device you have now.
- Unavailable simulators are removed with xcrun simctl, not by deleting folders.
- Xcode Archives are marked Careful because they hold the dSYMs you need to read crash reports.
- Everything else goes to the Trash and is listed in History with Put Back.
Developer folders are one group inside Cleanup. For big project folders you made yourself, try Space Lens or My Clutter.
