Photos finds the shots you took twice
Photos reads your Apple Photos library through PhotoKit and compares pictures with Apple's Vision framework, on your Mac. No photo is uploaded. It groups the photos you probably don't need and leaves every decision to you.

Large videos
Videos of 200 MB or more, largest first.
Blurry or badly exposed photos
Shots Vision scores low for quality. Photos you marked as favorites are never flagged.

How Photos keeps your files safe
- The best shot of every look-alike set is kept for you.
- macOS asks you to confirm before anything is deleted, and deleted photos stay in the Photos Recently Deleted album for 30 days.
- Photos needs access to your library. Without it, the module and Smart Scan simply skip your photos.
- All analysis runs on your Mac with Vision. No photo leaves your computer.
