Applications removes apps and what they leave behind
Dragging an app to the Trash leaves its caches, preferences and containers in your Library. Applications finds those files by the app's bundle ID, and also finds files of apps you removed long ago.

What Applications finds
Leftovers of an app you uninstall
Files the app keeps in your Library, matched by its bundle ID. Group containers, which several apps can share, are marked Review.

Leftovers of apps already removed
Folders in the same Library locations that belong to apps no longer on your Mac. Apple's own components and common developer tools are skipped.
Updates
App Store apps are checked against the App Store, and apps that use Sparkle against their developer's update feed. The check is optional.
Your apps
Everything in /Applications and ~/Applications with its size and when you last used it, filtered by App Store, Apple or other.
How Applications keeps your files safe
- Leftovers of a vendor whose other apps are still installed are marked Careful: shared helpers and updaters may still be in use.
- The app and its leftovers go to the Trash and can be put back from History.
- The update check is the only thing in CleanLoupe that uses the network, and it only asks Apple, or the app's own developer, for the latest version number.
